I like the comics at www.xkcd.com a lot. There’s a lot to like about it. The jokes are often funny and always geeky. And about 10% of the time, the jokes teach me something. (More often than I care to admit, I have to go to www.explainxkcd.com to have them, well, explain XKCD. My solace is that this happens often enough to others that there’s a whole site dedicated to it.)
But every so often, a comic makes you really think. Not just about geeky mathematics stuff – yes, I know that’s redundant – but about real-life stuff.
The image below doesn’t do this justice. It’s an animated GIF which flashes different elements at different times. (Actually, if you’re geeky enough to inspect the code [and who among us wouldn’t be?], it’s 50 animated GIF’s.) So go to www.xkcd.com/1331/ to see what I’m talking about. And to find out how often a Sagittarius named Amelia drinks a soda. (It’s more often than you’d think. She may want to lay off the soda, down that path lies early onset diabetes.)
